2016 Ten - The results (part two - categories)

For the first time we have results of the 'golf' game.

These were only drawn in four pubs - Rose and Crown, Highworth, Goldfinger and Saracens so are listed in that order divided by a /. Where a player did not feature in a category the ~ symbol is used. Where a player was not in the pub in question, NP is used.

Kevin - +2 / ~ / ~ / -1, -1, -1 = -1

Ian - +2, +3 / +1 / +1 / -1, -1 = +5

Simon - ~ / ~ / ~ / -1 = -1

James - +2 / -1/ ~ / +1 = +2

Brian -  +2, +3 / -3, +1 / ~ / -1, -1 = +1

PG - ~ / +1 / ~ / +2 / -1 = +2

Carpo - NP / NP / NP / -1, -1, -2 = -4

Mark - +2, +3 / -3 / ~ / -1, -2 = -1

Ben - +2 / +1 / ~ / -1 = +2

Matthew - +2 / -3, +1 / ~ / -1, -1, +1, -2, -1 = -4

Chris* - ~ / ~ / +1 / -1, -1 = -1

Paul - NP / NP / NP / +1, -1, +1, -2 = -1

Stu - ~ / -1 / +1 / -1, +1, +2, -1, +1 = +2

* Of the people who had a pint in every pub Chris has the lowest golf score which probably  makes him the winner of the 2016 Highworth Ten.

(category bonus points were awarded to Simon x2, Mark x2 and Matthew for reasons which now escape me!)

2016 Ten - The results (part one - drinks)

For the first time, the Highworth 10 results sheet has survived in a good enough condition to be used as a historical document.

Drinks are listed in order of the pubs they were consumed in. That order is: Rose and Crown, Highworth, Goldfinger, Plough, Globe, Saracens, King and Queen. The ~ symbol indicates no drink recorded.

The 2016 Ten

Here's how I saw it...

The Rose and Crown - The traditional meet and greet is given extra energy by Stuart looking like he's just walked out of a Dickens dramatisation. He needs to be helped into his coat due to it's bulky tight nature. Not everyone can work the bowler hat style.

The Highworth - We stayed a bit longer here as it was belting down. We also learned that Corvus stout is a poor substitute for Guinness (sorry Ben) and we don't know too many bones of the body.

The Goldfinger - With a disco being set up for Tracey's party the usual darts and pool games are cancelled. We watch Manchester United labour to victory in the FA Cup instead.

The Plough - The darts tournament takes place here instead. Brian scores an excellent 98 points but Kevin nips in with a late 25 to beat him by a single point. PG's dartitis astounds and amuses the onlookers.

The Globe - No karaoke! For the second year running! We sit and talk to each other instead. A curious aroma in the back room kept us in the main bar.

The Saracen's Head - The categories switched away from football here before Stuart exploded. Otherwise uneventful.

The King and Queen - On the quiet side apart from a school reunion. Carpo knew some of the principal characters. least said - soonest mended.

Rafu's - good curry I thought. The category revealed it was no wonder we failed to win Euro 2012. The 'where's my sock' game not quite reaching the heights of last year's 'I went to a picnic'.
